Remember the little watermelon from my garden? It finally ripened a while back. Such a funny little round watermelon, I just sliced it in half and gave Emmie and Micah each a spoon and half a melon. It made the perfect outdoor snack.
There’s nothing much left of the garden now, so I hope to clear it out and maybe put in some cool weather veggies. We’ll see if that happens!

Since Isaac gets his baths at the kitchen sink, he sometimes has an audience. The other day Emmaline expressed her disgust, remarking. “He is very uncute without his diaper on!”

And regarding Micah…

“I’m not telling on him, I just wanted to make sure you knew he did something he wasn’t supposed to.”

Isaac has been smiling more and more. His happiest time is after his first morning feeding. We sit in the rocking chair and chat about all sorts of important things. Mostly this involves me singing silly songs and him smiling and making wonderful little cooing noises. He can be all full of smiles, but they’re hard to capture on film. As soon as I pull the camera out he puts on his confused face, but these are a few of my best efforts.

In some ways, they are so similar, and yet they are so different too. I wonder who each of them will be as they grow, and pray that no matter their differences, they share a love for their Savior and a love for one another.

We spent the morning with some friends at Lukas Nursery’s Butterfly Encounter (it’s free for two more weeks!). There were plenty of butterflies and caterpillars to see in the greenhouse garden, and the kids especially enjoyed the butterfly feeding room where they got to dip their fingers in gatorade and let the butterflies sip it up with their curly straw mouths.

Even though we just about melted, we still enjoyed Winter Park’s Fourth of July festivities in the park. We ate hot dogs, listened to the music, and watch the kids as they bounced and slid on all the inflatable attractions.
It’s always fun to see who we will run into at the park too. This year, we saw Megan and Matthew, and we chatted with a colleague of Trent’s while in line for the slides.
Once we’d had our fill of the Florida sun, we ducked into the blessedly air conditioned shops on Park Ave before heading home to make chocolate chip cookies. Mmmm!

Emmaline and Micah seem to have adjusted very well to Isaac’s presence. We’ve had a few moments of course, but mostly they are moments like this one, when they both want to be near him, talk to him, and snuggle next to him. Emmaline especially loves to lay next to him and talk - until he spits up, at which point she leaps up and runs away declaring, “I’m not going near that mess again!
